i know he is still young and he has played center before, but at this stage he is prob best suited to stay on the wing, and spread the offense out

the devils tried parise out at center when the devils had injuries down the center and it didnt work out well at all (parise used to play center before joining the devils) and while he was further removed from the position he is more of a complete and smarter player than JVR

also it would be smarter to spread the offense out rather than having 1 strong top line and other lines that need help

Im sure there is another team would might be in under the radar. Really though. If burke offer sheeted Schneider, Van is gonna match it. Then either hold onto Lou or move him elsewhere for a lesser package. Burke pulling a move like that isnt gonna get him Lou. It doesnt matter Burke isnt gonna offer sheet anyone anyways.

For the love of god, don't do the offer sheet, for a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Vancouver would probably take it, keep Luongo, and be set next year. If the Leafs aren't willing to lose much more than Komi then why would they be willing to lose a first? Burke's gotta stick to his guns and if the deal is too expensive for Luongo, then leave it.

imagine if teams could restructure a deal, a lot more teams would be interested if he would have a 3-4yr contract (remaining)

but luckily the NHL isnt stupid enough like the NFL to have contracts that could be restructured

who are the big name free agents for next free agency? With around 11mill coming off the books next year we may be able to dangle some money around them

Damien Cox does not know how offer sheets work. As it stands now, to deter from long-term offer sheets, any offer over 5 years will take the total amount of the contract (he proposes $40 million over eight years) and divides it by 5 (not the total length of the contract).

$40 million divided by 5 equals $8 million per year—which means the compensation would be four 1st-rd picks. That's a pretty hefty price...
